There Goes Another Layer!

The David and Goliath study was such an amazing tool God used and continues to use to bring awareness to my life. I knew fear was a bondage factor for me, but I had no idea just how much fear controlled my every decision.

Today I am thankful to be one step closer to walking in freedom.

One more layer of that onion is being peeled away.

The only fear we are called to is to have a fear of the Lord, but not like an abusive fear, a respectful, reverence fear. An in awe fear of our Lord, our Creator. The giver and taker of life. The Scriptures tell us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We need this type fear.

If you have been a believer for any amount of time you know Scripture refers to fear not in some way or form over 300 times.

Do not be afraid . . .

Do not fear . . .

Do not worry . . .

Surrender control . . . (Because if you are a control freak like I am, you too, are walking in fear)

Do you have hidden secrets that you don’t want others to know? You too, are living in fear. Now I’m not saying shoot it from the roof tops, but if there is something you’ve hidden deep down that is constantly nagging or every time you think about it, then please, let me encourage you to prayerfully consider seeking wise counsel about that.

Fear causes division between relationships and the most important one it divides is our relationship with our Lord.

If you are struggling with a deep grip of fear like I do, I need you to know you aren’t alone. I’m praying for you. Just like I’m praying for myself. Our Lord wants us free. Our Lord is gracious to reveal the layers of fear one layer at a time. He wants us to be free, but He also is tender and gentle in the healing process.

Do you know Him like that? What is it that’s holding you back? Oh I’m praying hard for you.

Lord I thank you for how you reveal yourself to us through every day life and scripture. Lord, it is our hearts desire to be free from the bondage of fear. In order to do that we must increase our confidence in you so we can rest in you more assuredly than we do our circumstances or our own thoughts and knowledge. In order to do that Lord, we need to spend more time in the Scripture – getting to know you better. Understanding your character more. Draw us in to you. Quicken us to take moments of stillness when they come instead of adding more busyness. We want to be free. Amen.
