The anxiety from this election has my blood pressure up, my head hurting, and absolutely sick to my stomach. So, if you are like me and needing to refocus continuously and having to take those thoughts captive, moment by moment, with every news report, then this is for you, as well as for me.
My first need is to take those strongholds captive. The fear and worry that havoc my mind and are taking a toll on my physical body are strongholds. Whether you are a Democrat or a Republican . . . or even an Independent . . . you are probably just as concerned or dare I say worried as I am over this election . . . who knows . . . maybe I’m the only one out of the millions of Americans that is worried . . . regardless . . . here is where I must begin . . . .
2 Corinthians 10: 3-5 tells me that even though I live in the world, I am not fighting a war like the world does . . . that my war is not against flesh and blood but against the demons in the world and in order to fight this war it is going to take more than physical flesh . . . that only the Power of God can fight this battle that rages within me . . . but in order for Him to do that for me I must surrender my thoughts . . . . the worry . . . . the fear . . . the anxiety over this election, over the news reports, over the statistics . . . and remember Who is in control.
So let’s go there.
How do you break a habit? You replace it with another one.
Today I will remind myself over and over what I already know but that needs to be on the forefront of my brain.
My Jesus was born of a virgin. (Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 1:26-38)
My Jesus turned water in to wine. (John 2:1-11)
My Jesus healed a royal official’s son who was sick and dying. (John 4:46-54)
My Jesus healed a man possessed of demon. (Mark 1:21-28)
My Jesus healed a sick mother-in-law. (Luke 4:38-39)
My Jesus healed many more that were sick and possessed of demons. (Luke 4:40)
My Jesus provided a large number of fish. (Luke 5:3-10)
My Jesus healed a leper. (Luke 5:12-15)
My Jesus healed a centurion’s servant. (Luke 7:1-10)
My Jesus healed a paralyzed man. (Luke 5:18-26)
My Jesus healed a man’s withered hand. (Mark 3:1-6)
My Jesus raised a widow’s son from death. (7:11-17)
My Jesus calmed a storm. (Matthew 8:23-27)
My Jesus healed a Gerasene man possessed with demons. (Matthew 8:28-32)
The list goes on and on and on . . . And that is just what is mentioned in the Bible. But you know what is found after almost every miracle Jesus performed . . . something similar to these words . . . . “They were all filled with awe and praised God.” God used every bad thing that people were walking through or experiencing pain in and turned it for good in order for others to hear of Jesus and believe.
He still does that today.
Yes, this election is a big one. But aren’t they all? And whether we want to admit it or deal with it or not . . . regardless of what happens with this election . . . regardless of who is in the Oval Office . . . . we still have the book of Revelations that tells us things are going to get a lot worse and that is something no President can control.
I’ve mentioned many miracles Christ performed when he walked the earth . . . but but here is the one that stands out the most . . . the miracle of Christ being raised from the dead . . .
My King . . . He defeated death. Luke 24: 1-8
. . . . And God still reigns over the nations and He is seated on his holy throne. Psalm 47:8 . . . .
