Calling Out Dry Bones

When I read the Bible I find that I forget it is truly a part of historical history. Then I try and study to link the world of history with the scriptures in order to make sense of timelines in hopes of attaining the “wow” factor of what is REALLY going on and I get confused, have more questions than answers because one question leads to an answer with bigger questions. I often get discouraged in this journey of comprehension, close my Bibles and quit. Then, just like this morning, while I yearn for these answers and comprehension, I find myself wondering if the Lord is even ready to reveal them to me . . . . and maybe for now . . . for reasons that quite frankly frustrate me . . . He wants me to keep it simple . . . to see His works in the black and white . . . to not dig so deep that I lose the main focus . . . . Hope.

I have stopped listening to the news.

I no longer read anything posted on social media that deals with politics.

It hurts too bad and causes me more stress than good.

Our nation is divided. And while this post is not about nor will I get in to the political arena  . . . we are in trouble. My heart is so burdened for our nation. I have cried. Prayed. And cried some more. But it hasn’t been just for our leaders that I’ve been praying . . . it has been for the people of America . . . all of us.

This song, Come Alive (Dry Bones)” featuring Lauren Daigle, popped up in my memory feed from last year and immediately the lord takes me to Ezekiel 37, The Valley of Dry Bones and it reminds me of the condition of America today . . . . Can you hear it . . . . the nothingness of death and destruction . . . . the dry brittle ground cracking as you take step after step?

As I have played this song several times I found myself singing and praying, “Oh Father let us see an army rise. Come alive. Oh Father breathe a breath of God come alive . . . come alive.”

Our nation is divided. Our nation is filled with anger, hate, lies, drugs, and deception. Sex is on every corner and comes through every home via the television and internet. Women (and men) are beaten and left for dead. Women, men, and children are sold for sex. God is no longer the ruler of our homes but merely a three letter word that slips out before another four letter word that slanders His name. We have one extreme political party that fights with another extreme political party and truly . . . how in the world, if the Lord is Lord of any of their lives can they behave in such a manner that would lead to such hate? I just can’t comprehend it.

So today, as you listen to this song, read the lyrics below and please . . . pray for our nation. Pray for the lost. Pray specifically for the Presidential candidates (BOTH of them need Jesus and a changed heart . . . can you imagine if God got ahold of their hearts in the middle of the next debate?! Wow!) but know this also. . .  if you are hurting, lacking hope, and discouraged . . . we must pray for ourselves. I have prayed before that God would bring me back to life . . . to restore the joy of salvation to me and He does. I am often ridiculed for believing such prayers make a difference and have even been told, “it will never happen,” but I believe in a Hope named Jesus who raises dry bones and gives them new life. I believe in man that can beat any addiction. I believe in a man that can restore families. I believe in man that can heal the sick.  I believe in a man that not only died but defied death! So . . . yes, when I pray I pray big and I pray expectantly so please, as silly as some might think it to be, join me in praying for our nation.

Come Alive

(Oh Lord) Through the eyes of men it seems
There’s so much we have lost
As we look down the road
Where all the prodigals have walked
One by one
The enemy has whispered lies
And led them off as slaves

But (Oh Lord) we know that you are God
Yours is the victory
AND We know there is more to come
That we may not yet see
So with the faith you’ve given us
We’ll step into the valley unafraid, yeah

(And Lord,) As we call out to dry bones
Come alive, come alive
We call out to dead hearts
Come alive, come alive
Up out of the ashes
Let us see an army rise
We call out to dry bones, come alive

(Oh) God of endless mercy
God of unrelenting love
Rescue every daughter
Bring us back the wayward son
And By your spirit breathe upon them
Show the world that you alone can save (Lord!)
You alone can save (Yes, Lord!)

As we call out to dry bones
Come alive, come alive
We call out to dead hearts
Come alive, come alive
Up out of the ashes
Let us see an army rise
We call out to dry bones come alive

So breathe, oh breath of God
Now breathe, oh breath of God
Breathe, oh breath of God
Now breathe

Breathe, oh breath of God
Now breathe, oh breath of God
Breathe, oh breath of God, now breathe

As we call out to dry bones
Come alive, come alive
We call out to dead hearts
Come alive, come alive
Up out of the ashes
Let us see an army rise
We call out to dry bones come alive, yeah
We call out to dry bones, come alive

Oh come alive

Oh Father, I my heart hurts far worse this morning than my physical pain. Our nation needs you. Lord our leaders need you. Lord I don’t even know how or what to pray anymore so I can only ask that the Holy Spirit would take over . . . that He would intercede on my behalf. Heal our nation Lord. Heal our hearts. Return the wayward to you. Bring in the lost. Be glorified through this and Lord, use me to bring hope to one some body today. Use me to make a difference. In Jesus’ name I pray and believe, Amen.
